There are many verses that prophesy of the people of God
returning to the Promised Land. Some of them we have already shared on previous
posts. Now we present even more of these promises…
(Isaiah 11:11-16) In that day the
Lord will extend his hand yet a second time to recover the remnant that remains of his people, from Assyria, from
Egypt, from Pathros, from Cush, from Elam, from Shinar, from Hamath, and from
the coastlands of the sea. (12) He will raise a signal for the nations and will
assemble the banished of Israel, and
gather the dispersed of Judah from
the four corners of the earth. (13) The jealousy of Ephraim shall depart, and
those who harass Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not be jealous of Judah,
and Judah shall not harass Ephraim. (14) But they shall swoop down on the
shoulder of the Philistines in the west, and together they shall plunder the
people of the east. They shall put out their hand against Edom and Moab, and
the Ammonites shall obey them. (15) And the LORD will utterly destroy the
tongue of the Sea of Egypt, and will wave his hand over the River with his
scorching breath, and strike it into seven channels, and he will lead people
across in sandals. (16) And there will be a highway from Assyria for the
remnant that remains of his people, as there was for Israel when they came up
from the land of Egypt.
(Zechariah 10:6-12) “I will
strengthen the house of Judah, and I will save the house of Joseph. I will bring them back because I have
compassion on them, and they shall be as though I had not rejected them, for I
am the LORD their God and I will answer them. (7) Then Ephraim shall
become like a mighty warrior, and their hearts shall be glad as with wine.
Their children shall see it and be glad; their hearts shall rejoice in
the LORD. (8) “I will whistle for
them and gather them in, for I have redeemed them, and they shall be as
many as they were before. (9) Though I scattered them among the nations, yet in
far countries they shall remember me,
and with their children they shall live and
return. (10) I will bring them home from the land of Egypt, and gather them
from Assyria, and I will bring them to the land of Gilead and to Lebanon, till
there is no room for them. (11) He shall pass through the sea of troubles and
strike down the waves of the sea, and all the depths of the Nile shall be dried
up. The pride of Assyria shall be laid low, and the scepter of Egypt shall
depart. (12) I will make them strong in the LORD, and they shall walk in
his name,” declares the LORD.
(Jeremiah 32:37-44) Behold, I will gather them out of all countries
where I have driven them in My anger, in My fury, and in great wrath; I will bring them back to this place,
and I will cause them to dwell safely. (38) They shall be My people, and I will be their God; (39) then
I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the
good of them and their children after them. (40) And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I
will not turn away from doing them good; but I will put My fear in their hearts
so that they will not depart from Me. (41) Yes, I will rejoice over
them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My
heart and with all My soul.’ (42) “For thus says the Lord: ‘Just as I
have brought all this great calamity on this people, so I will bring on them
all the good that I have promised them. (43) And fields will be bought in this land of which you say, “It is
desolate, without man or beast; it has been given into the hand of the
Chaldeans.” (44) Men will buy fields for money, sign deeds and
seal them, and take witnesses, in the land of Benjamin, in the places
around Jerusalem, in the cities of Judah, in the cities of the mountains, in
the cities of the lowland, and in the cities of the South; for I will cause their captives to return,’
says the Lord.”
(Isaiah 51:11-12) And the ransomed of the LORD shall
return and come to Zion with singing; everlasting joy shall be upon their
heads; they shall obtain gladness and joy, and sorrow and sighing shall flee
away. (12)“I, I am he who comforts you; who are you that you are afraid of man
who dies, of the son of man who is made like grass,
(Isaiah 49:22-23) Thus says the
Lord GOD: “Behold, I will lift up
my hand to the nations, and raise my signal to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their arms,
and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. (23) Kings shall be
your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to
the ground they shall bow down to you, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you
will know that I am the LORD; those
who wait for me shall not be put to shame.”
(Isaiah 60:4-5) Lift up your
eyes all around, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from afar, and
your daughters shall be carried on the hip. (5) Then you shall see and be
radiant; your heart shall thrill and exult, because the abundance of the sea
shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you.
(Isaiah 43:5-7) Fear not, for I
am with you; I will bring your offspring from
the east, and from the west I
will gather you. (6) I will say to the north,
Give up, and to the south, Do not
withhold; bring my sons from afar and
my daughters from the end of the earth, (7) everyone who is called by my name, whom
I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”
(Ezekiel 36:16-38) The word of the LORD came
to me: (17) “Son of man, when the house of Israel lived in their own land,
they defiled it by their ways and their deeds. Their ways before me were like
the uncleanness of a woman in her menstrual impurity. (18) So I poured out
my wrath upon them for the blood that they had shed in the land, for the idols
with which they had defiled it. (19) I
scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed through the
countries. In accordance with their ways and their deeds I judged them. (20)
But when they came to the nations, wherever they came, they profaned my holy
name, in that people said of them, ‘These are the people of the LORD, and
yet they had to go out of his land.’ (21) But I had concern for my holy
name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations to which they
came. (22) “Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord GOD:
It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am about to act, but for the sake of my holy name, which you
have profaned among the nations to which you came. (23) And I will vindicate the holiness of my great
name, which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have
profaned among them. And the nations
will know that I am the LORD, declares the Lord GOD, when through you I vindicate my holiness
before their eyes. (24) I will take you from the nations and gather you
from all the countries and bring you
into your own land. (25) I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you
shall be clean from all your uncleannesses, and from all your idols I will
cleanse you. (26) And I will give
you a new heart, and a new spirit
I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and
give you a heart of flesh. (27) And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be
careful to obey my rules. (28) You shall dwell in the land that I gave
to your fathers, and you shall be my
people, and I will be your God. (29) And I will deliver you from all
your uncleannesses. And I will summon the grain and make it abundant and lay no
famine upon you. (30) I will make the fruit of the tree and the increase
of the field abundant, that you may never again suffer the disgrace of famine
among the nations. (31) Then you will remember your evil ways, and your
deeds that were not good, and you will loathe yourselves for your iniquities
and your abominations. (32) It is not for your sake that I will act,
declares the Lord GOD; let that be known to you. Be ashamed and confounded
for your ways, O house of Israel. (33) “Thus says the Lord GOD: On the day
that I cleanse you from all your iniquities, I will cause the cities to be
inhabited, and the waste places shall be
rebuilt. (34) And the land that was desolate shall be tilled, instead
of being the desolation that it was in the sight of all who passed by. (35)
And they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of
Eden, and the waste and desolate and ruined cities are now fortified and
inhabited.’ (36) Then the nations that are left all around you shall know
that I am the LORD; I have rebuilt the ruined places and replanted that
which was desolate. I am the LORD; I have spoken, and I will do it. (37) “Thus
says the Lord GOD: This also I will let the house of Israel ask me to do
for them: to increase their people like a flock. (38) Like the flock for
sacrifices, like the flock at Jerusalem during her appointed feasts, so
shall the waste cities be filled with flocks of people. Then they will know
that I am the LORD.”
(Psalms 147:2) The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel.
(Isaiah 56:6-8) And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD,
to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, everyone
who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant— (7) these
I will bring to my holy mountain, and
make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their
sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.” (8) The
Lord GOD, who gathers the outcasts
of Israel, declares, “I will gather yet others to him besides those already
gathered.”
